When the eyes speak louder…

by Stephanie Alfaia

Brown blinking handsome

Irresistible genuine smile.
His eyes suddenly shut tight,

Inner battle
Avoiding the glimpse of mine.
“Don’t do that,” he said.
But I couldn’t look away.
I poured my feelings,
set my soul on fire,
and promised his happiness,
all in a momentary stare.
“I’m scared of how you make me feel.”
His words choked my heart.
Guilt battling love,
How could I be so sure
after 48 hours?
