Home Poetry ‘Twas all

‘Twas all

by Stephanie Alfaia

It was never you
it was chaos.
Luscious calamity,
deliberate irresponsibility,
coveted freedom,
dry humor,
lighthearted living,
a delirious breeze
cold against glistening droplets of
sweat on my skin.
So cold my eyes shut
and the stars where no longer shining.
Instead I saw,
deep within I found,
a bright red light
burning through my lashes.
I saw fire.
Desire
dire lust
’twas all
’twas all it was
