Once Upon a Time

by Stephanie Alfaia

I was shattered glass
glued together to keep
droplets of red wine from escaping.

I learned togetherness
by keeping brokeness
in one place.

Here and there
the wounds creak open
they leak bad memories
and though it reeks,
I am not sorry for being
a salvaged collected piece.
