Let me trace the Haire on Your Skin

by Stephanie Alfaia

Blinking lashes
A thought of you dashes
Through the rainforest in my mind
Your silence sprouting vines,
Curiosity
Twisting and twirling up my spine.
I am living a loop.
You stroll past waterfalls
Indignant I follow;
In reality, I lead –
Your interested disinterest
Misleads

You know what to do
To make me write
Poetry about you

Be my muse
Bewitching golden hue
Let me spell your name in quicksand
I’m knee deep in river swell, unplanned
Lure me
Instead into the deepest sea of you and
Drown me if you dare.
Pin me down until I stay
The night,
I’d like to trace the haire
On your skin with my tongue,
Count your freckles right

You do, you do…
Know what to do
To make me write
Poetry about you
