Imagined Dragons

by Stephanie Alfaia

I have become comfortable
In my own skin –
The emotional writer,
The girl who lives in her head
Over thinking her way
To madness
But what I cannot survive,
– The worst part is
Being in love with someone
I am yet to meet.
Someone who may not exist
Who certainly doesn’t
Exist
Because I imagined him.

Living in a daily
Happy after
Smiling through disaster
I am in love with my characters
The he, she, them
Whose stories I share with
You
I bet you wonder if my stories are
True

Wouldn’t you love them?
If you created their every breath
If your imagination
Broke through laws of time
Tell me,
Who would you
Create?
