How’s The View From Your High Horse?

by Stephanie Alfaia

Every town
Has a golden boy
Sitting on his stoop in blue jeans
Sipping a cold Bud Light
Glancing at the messages
Blinking on his phone screen
Smiling to himself, thinking
Not again Caroline;
Yes Sophie, you can pass by…

Dear Tucker,
Or is Jack your name?
Fuck it, you’re all the same.
I am writing to say you’re lucky.
Yes, lucky you really are
Girls stare and swoon and lower to toons
Only because they are competing against
Each other
Dear Chad,
It has nothing to do with
You
