But it’s just tomato sauce

by Stephanie Alfaia

There’s really nothing worse than a
disappointing meal
on a rainy National Wine Day
who’s idea was it to give wine a day
Any how,
it blows my mind how he was able to mess up
Pomodoro sauce
His accent sounded Italian enough to me.
That’s what I get for feeling
sorry for myself –
a terrible bowl of
homemade Tagliatelle al Pomodoro.
al dente, not break my teeth. Idiot.
Then it gets
Your umbrella breaks on your walk home
and the thought of strawberry cheesecake or
chugging a beer with your favorite bartender
turns sour and wet and
I can’t make this stuff up.
That’s my life,
Unfortunate events I keep smiling through…
Who am I kidding?
