Spring Bloom

by Stephanie Alfaia

“Do you remember when I took you to read your first poem at Nuyorican Café?”

“When I read the piece I wrote about our first night together?”

“That’s the one. Well that day I saw you bloom into my favorite daffodil.”

“I’ve always been a daffodil silly.”

“But you didn’t glow under the sun, not the way you do now.”

“That’s because you’re the moon, Charlie. Unlike what they believe, the sun lusts for the moon. I dazzle when you smile that crescent babe – ”

“So let’s let them believe what they do.”

“What are you saying?”

“I’m saying I like reveling in you.”
